Crop an image

Cut away what you do not need. Draw a selection, pick a fixed aspect ratio such as square for a profile picture, or enter the exact size in pixels.

100% private: processed on your device, nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Choose or drag an image into the box above.
  2. Drag the selection or its corners, or choose an aspect ratio. You can also type an exact width and height.
  3. Click “Crop and download” to save the cropped image.

Which aspect ratio should I use?

1:1 (square) works for profile pictures and Instagram posts. 4:5 is the tallest Instagram feed format. 16:9 fits YouTube thumbnails, presentations and widescreen displays; 9:16 is for stories and reels. 3:2 and 4:3 are classic photo print sizes.

Crop without losing quality

Cropping only removes pixels; the part you keep is not scaled. PNG output is lossless; JPG and WebP are saved at high quality.

Frequently asked questions

Can I crop to an exact size in pixels?

Yes. Type the width and height in the fields under the image. With a fixed aspect ratio, the other value is calculated automatically.

Does cropping work with iPhone photos (HEIC)?

Yes. HEIC photos are opened directly in your browser. Choose JPG as output if you want a file that opens everywhere.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The image is cropped in your browser and never leaves your device.
