Compress an image to a specific size

Does a website or form only accept images up to 100 KB or 2 MB? Enter the maximum size and we automatically find the best quality that fits.

100% private: processed on your device, nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Enter the maximum file size, for example 200 KB.
  2. Choose or drag your images into the box above.
  3. We find the highest quality that fits within the limit. Download the result.

How does it work?

The tool tries different quality levels and picks the best one that stays under your limit. If an image is too large even at low quality, it is also scaled down slightly, because a smaller sharp image looks better than a blurry large one.

Common size limits

Application and government forms often ask for photos of 50–200 KB. Many websites and email services limit attachments to 1–2 MB. Online marketplaces usually accept up to 5–10 MB.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my image smaller than the limit?

Each quality step changes the file size in jumps. We choose the highest quality that stays under the limit, so the result is usually slightly below it.

Will the dimensions change?

Only when necessary. If the limit cannot be reached with acceptable quality, the image is scaled down step by step until it fits.

Which format is used?

Automatic uses JPG, or WebP for images with transparency. JPG is accepted by almost every form and website.
